7/01 El Prado

01 July 2008 - It was a "slow news" day. We took our time getting ready to go out today. I guess we needed a bit of a rest. We had a leisurely breakfast (café con leche y un croissant) then a walk around the neighborhood, then headed to the Prado, Madrid's major art museum, where we enjoyed a temporary exhibit of Spanish Renaissance artwork, a special collection of Goya, and many of the standard masterpieces of El Greco, Valázquez.

We returned to the hotel in the afternoon, 8:00 pm - remember that Spain has a different view of "afternoon" - and after a little rest and relaxation, we left to have a 10:00 pm dinner with our good friends Carmen and Pisto in Majadahonda, a 15 minute train ride just west of Madrid.

FYI - I have created another blog posting recapping the post Euro 2008 championship for Spain - click here to see it.
