05 July 2008 - This was the last full day with the three of us together in Madrid. After our morning meal at the cafetería near the hotel, we went to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. Later in the day we met with our friends, Anne, Oscar and son Carlos again. We walked along the Serrano, an elegant boulevard, and went into the Parque del Buen Retiro, via the Puerta de Alcalá. Following are some photos from our stroll in the park ...

At the entrance to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia ... the museum of modern art. The museum features many important works by Picasso, Miró, Dalí and many others. One of the most famous works is "Guérnica" by Picasso. It captures the core of the emotion of the spanish civil war, when the basque city of Guérnica was obliterated by republican forces.
